Frequently Asked Questions
WildTherapy
Does my child need a diagnosis?
Children receiving OT services may or may not have a diagnosis. Every child using our services will see our Occupational Therapist for pre and post therapy screening.
Can I use my NDIS funding?
Yes. Rosewood Wild Therapy is currently accepting NDIS funding.
Do I stay with my child?
No. You are welcome to wait in your car, however you are able to leave the practice while your child is in their therapy session. The exception to this is our Sensory Playgroup, which parents participate in with children.
We believe that there is no such thing as bad weather when you have the right clothing (and a good sense of adventure!). We will generally not cancel sessions due to weather, as we develop resilience and an ability to adapt through these experiences. However, in the case of extreme weather such as extreme heat, high winds, electrical thunderstorms and heavy rain, sessions may be cancelled. For sessions that are cancelled by RWT, participants will not be billed. (See our Extreme Weather Policy for more information)
We have to miss a day, can I get reimbursed?
Unfortunately, no. All participants must sign a service agreement to begin therapy with us, which includes being billed for sessions that are not attended.
While we may operate in weather that is challenging for children at first, we must bill for any session that is not attended. It is our hope that through their experience at Rosewood Wild Therapy, children are able to develop a resilience for, and love of, all kinds of weather.

Will my child get dirty?
We sure hope so! A dirty child is generally a good sign that your child has not only had a lot of fun at their therapy session, but also experienced the developmental benefits of messy/sensory play. We suggest having a towel, plastic bag, spare clothes and shoes ready for when you pick up your child, and to be just as excited about the mud as they are!
Where do children go to the bathroom?
We have a camp-style toilet inside our ‘Therapy Shed’. This includes a camping toilet set up in an ensuite tent, with hand washing facilities.
What should we wear?
-
A hat
-
Light long sleeve pants
-
Light long sleeve shirt is best (No singlets, shoulders always need to be covered)
-
Sturdy, closed in shoes (Children can bring their gumboots to change into, however need to wear shoes that are appropriate for tree climbing etc).
-
Sunscreen & Insect repellant. RWT will supply both at drop off, however to assist in your child's settling in, this may be better applied at home.
What should we bring?
Water, spare clothes, RWT will supply sunscreen and insect repellant. Pack wet weather gear if rain predicted, or bring spare clothes for pick up
Will my child be safe?
While we encourage measured risk taking at RWT, our 2 acre therapy space is completely enclosed, ensuring the safety and security of all children.
I am worried about my child settling in. What does this look like at RWT?
Prior to starting at RWT, each child will have a pre- therapy screening done, at which time they will have the opportunity to meet the OT or OT Assistant that they will be working with. They will also be given a social story to support transitioning into the outdoor setting. At Rosewood Wild Therapy, we also have an indoor therapy space, which children can use to regulate and spend their time, until they are feeling more comfortable and able to move out to our 'wild' spaces.

Your family will receive regular photo updates, so that children are able to reflect on what they have achieved and the spaces that they have spent time in.
